I'm new to photography, can I still come to the workshop?
All levels of artistry are welcome, but the strategies and methods are advanced. As long as you have knowledge of your camera in manual mode, you'll be just fine.
What equipment do I need to bring?
We recommend you bring a digital SLR camera and a few lens options. Don't forget memory cards and camera batteries. Although it's not required we highly recommend you bring a laptop or iPad to follow along during the post processing sessions. If you're a note-taker bring a notebook and pencil.
Do I need to bring a print portfolio for the portfolio review?
Although, print is beautiful and can make an impact, it is not required. An iPad will provide a great presentation of your photography.
Do I need to bring my own lunch or beverages?
Lunch and basic beverages will be provided. But, we suggest you bring your own water bottle to keep hydrated! If you have any dietary concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Clay.
What is the schedule for the workshop?
The schedule of each workshop will vary, but the day will get started at 10:00am with introductions and will end at 5:00pm with a detailed Q&A session. Lunch will be provided around 1:00pm, with several short breaks. The course structure is outlined per workshop.
How many students will be attending?
The workshops are limited to 16 photographers. We always keep the class size small for more personal attention.
Do you offer a discount in exchange for labor, planning or logistics assistance?
We would love to cater to everyone, but unfortunately these workshops are costly and require a lot of investment up front. We travel with a team and make sure all details are taken care of ahead of time so we don't have to ask for the extra help. Clay is always willing to hang, meet and talk one-on-one at anytime during the workshop.
What if the workshop is cancelled?
If a workshop is cancelled due to lack of interest or an act of God, we will notify you as soon as possible, and refund you the deposit.
Is my deposit refundable?
We understand that changes happen. We need to be notified of your cancellation as soon as possible – if you decide to cancel 14 days before the workshop then the deposit is refundable. If you cancel under the 14 days notice the deposit is non-refundable.
What are the usage terms of the images we take on the workshop?
The images taken by each individual are for non-commercial use only – you are allowed to use the images for your online portfolio and on your social media channels. That being said, images must not be submitted to any publication or competition. Additionally, images photographed at "Clay Cook Workshops" must not be used to advertise workshops or products. Attendees must credit "Clay Cook Workshops" on all forms of social media.
Can I film or record the workshop?
Attendees cannot not film or record the workshop at any time without permission.
Will my equipment be safe and secure?
While we are not responsible for loss of or damage to your personal property, we make sure to provide a clean and safe working environment to learn and connect. We recommend to always keep a watchful eye over your equipment throughout the workshop and check your work-space at the end of the day.
